What We Do

CATS was founded in 2013. Starting with just one soccer league, CATS provided exercise, fun, and friends to 40 athletes with special needs in our first season. CATS now provides adaptive team sports in many locations in Northern Virginia, serving over 100 athletes each season! CATS is one of the ONLY organization available in the DC/MD/VA area that provides structured, non-competitive, TEAM sports programs for kids with special needs.

What We’ve Achieved

  • Since 2013, We have added locations across Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun counties, serving over 100 athletes each year.

  • In November 2014, CATS partnered with Phase Dance and Cheer to provide adaptive cheer to our athletes! The girls have worked hard for 10 weeks and put on a wonderful showcase! They also competed at Kings Dominion.

  • In January 2015, CATS provided a unique basketball clinic held at the Capital One Arena before the Washington Wizards game.

  • In June 2018, CATS partnered with the Citi Open to provide a tennis clinic to our athletes from a professional play

  • Since July 2018, CATS has provided an annual Adaptive Triathlon at Greenbriar Pool Club. This annual event highlights the summer by giving every athlete a chance to complete a (adaptive) triathlon! The community comes together to cheer on, volunteer, and participate in this special event.

“I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and the rest of the CATS staff for the wonderful program that you have started. I think that it is great that you have taken a sport that most kids enjoy and made it available to children, ike my son, who are differenty-abed. It made my husband and I so happy to see our son included in a structured group activity. It was also refreshing not to have to be worried about other people judging or not understanding our son’s behavior and to be Abe to talk to other parents who are going through the same thing. You a have the hearts of angels! Thanks again for everything this season!”
